Pregnancy & Post-Partum Mental Health
Growing your family should be a time of joyful excitement. We understand, though, that the responsibilities of adding children to your home can bring additional stress and anxiety.
Our therapists help moms, dads, and parents-to-be learn to quiet the negative thoughts, elevate their mood, and find peace in their new role.
Whether your struggles include …
…adapting to your new title of Mom/Dad
…balancing professional goals with parenting goals
…handling conflicting ideals from family, friends, or even your partner
…worrying about whether you’re doing the right thing for your child
…struggling to shake negative thoughts
…or feeling alone, confused, or overwhelmed
…our therapists are devoted to helping you regain your peace. Best of all, we bring the therapy to you!
Pregnancy and Post-Partum Anxiety
Most of the parents we see come to us with common and expectable reactions to parenthood.
But what if it's more than that?
Do you worry about something happening to your child?
Does your mind race with questions about whether you are doing right for your child or whether you are a good parent?
Do you find yourself checking on your child repeatedly even when all indications point to a healthy and safe child?
Do you experience upsetting dreams or imaginary images of your child?
Are you worried about being left alone with your child, afraid of hurting him/her?
If you answered 'yes' to any of the above questions, you could have postpartum anxiety. Unlike depression, which has had time in the spotlight, postpartum anxiety is not as well-publicized. You may know you are in distress yet also know you are not depressed and therefore are unsure of what to do. The E-Therapy group can help you find calmness and gain control again.
